Mining colonies are a specialty of Trbovlje in Central Europe. Their abundance and concentration speak of the enormous importance of the mining industry that shaped the image of the region for 200 years. From the design point of view, the colonies are interesting as a rented architecture, and from the ethnological point of view as a document of a peculiar way of life.
The ethnological path presents the colonies as a cultural heritage, which in the post-mining period tells of the intertwining of everyday life and work from about 1890 onwards.
The route is set along a shorter or longer route. The total length of the trail, which connects six different types of colonies, is about 3 km, and the time required for the tour is 1.5 to 2 hours. The shorter footpath is about 1.5 km long.
