Ana Dimnik, the “Slovenian mother”, was a co-owner from 1883, and after the death of her husband Ivan Dimnik in 1901, until her death in 1921, she was the owner of an inn in Trbovlje. The inn was a gathering place for conscious Slovenes.

Ana Dimnik promoted the Slovene word, bought Slovene books, and participated in the establishment of the men’s branch of the Society of St. Cyril and Methodius. In 1896 she founded the women’s branch of the Society and was its president until her death.

She died in 1921. She was given a magnificent funeral, accompanied on her last journey by ten thousand people, and King Peter I sent a letter of condolence. Her work inspired the writer Vladimir Levstik, he described it in his book ”Gadje gnezdo”.

The memorial room of Ana Dimnik is on display in the Pizzeria Dimnik.
